Associate Engineer Course 4: Exam

Welcome to the Immuta Associate Engineer certification exam! This exam comprises two parts:

  • Multiple choice: These 20 questions measure knowledge of IAMs, native integrations, and projects and ability to configure implementations for specific use cases. Candidates must score at least 80% on this portion before they can proceed to the second half of the exam.
  • Free Response: In this part of the exam, you will install Immuta and troubleshoot deployment issues. This portion of the exam is graded on a pass/fail basis.

Associate Engineer Course 1: Deploying Immuta

Welcome to the first course in the Immuta Associate Engineer certification program! This course prepares you to lead customers through installations of Immuta.

What will I learn?

This course enables you to

  • understand and fulfill your role as a certified Immuta Engineer.
  • explain the components of a basic installation of Immuta.
  • differentiate between the two deployment methods Immuta offers.
  • install Immuta.
  • troubleshoot installation errors.

How will I know that I’ve learned?

This course contains several activities and quizzes that assess your mastery of skills and concepts related to deploying Immuta. You will demonstrate your understanding of the concepts outlined above by

  • completing a knowledge check: You will assess your understanding of the Immuta components by taking a brief multiple choice quiz.
  • following an installation tutorial and video: You will have the opportunity to apply what you’ve learned by installing Immuta locally using Docker in the final lesson of this course. Additionally, we’ve provided a working session video of an engineer demonstrating an installation of Immuta using Kubernetes.
  • engaging in a brief reflection: You will reflect on your confidence with and understanding of the content in this course. Depending on how you feel about your mastery of concepts, you can opt to complete enrichment activities, access additional resources, and read supplemental articles and documentation that we provide to you.

What am I working toward?

For part of your certification exam, you will install Immuta locally and troubleshoot an installation scenario. All of the content in this course is designed to prepare you for that portion of the exam and for challenges you may encounter when leading customers through their installations of Immuta.

Associate Engineer Course 3: Immuta Policies, Projects, and Workspaces

Welcome to third course of the Associate Engineer learning path! This course prepares you to build policies and configure projects and workspaces for customers.

Course Requirement: An Immuta Instance

To explore how integrations and features work in Immuta, you need to have access to an Immuta instance. If you do not already have access to one, reach out to your Alliances team member to request one.

What will I learn?

This course enables you to

  • create Data and Subscription policies to solve customer compliance requirements.
  • understand the purpose of projects and workspaces.
  • understand the problem that derived data sources solve.
  • create a project to solve a customer use case.
  • configure a native workspace.
  • use the Immuta API.
  • prepare for the exam.

How will I know that I’ve learned?

This course contains several activities and quizzes that assess your mastery of skills and concepts related to Immuta policies and projects. You will demonstrate your understanding of the concepts outlined above by

  • completing knowledge checks: You will assess your understanding of policies and projects by taking brief multiple choice quizzes.
  • completing exercises in your Immuta instance: These exercises allow you to apply what you’ve learned about projects and workspaces creating them in your instance of Immuta.
  • engaging in a brief reflection: You will reflect on your confidence with and understanding of the content in this course. Depending on how you feel about your mastery of concepts, you can opt to complete enrichment activities, access additional resources, and read supplemental articles and documentation that we provide to you.

All of the content in this course is designed to prepare you for that exam and for challenges you may encounter when configuring policies, projects, and workspaces for customers.

Associate Engineer Course 2: Integrations

Welcome to second course of the Associate Engineer learning path! This course prepares you to configure various integrations with Immuta for customers.

Course Requirement: An Immuta Instance

To explore how integrations and features work in Immuta, you need to have access to an Immuta instance. If you do not already have access to one, reach out to your Alliances team member to request one.

What will I learn?

This course enables you to

  • configure Databricks, Snowflake, and Presto native integrations.
  • explain the capabilities and limitations of external IAMs with Immuta.
  • configure an external IAM.
  • configure an external catalog.

How will I know that I’ve learned?

This course contains several activities and quizzes that assess your mastery of skills and concepts related to Immuta’s integrations. You will demonstrate your understanding of the concepts outlined above by

  • completing knowledge checks: You will assess your understanding of native integrations by taking brief multiple choice quizzes.
  • completing a native integration activity: This exercise allows you to apply what you’ve learned about native integrations by configuring a native integration in your instance of Immuta.
  • engaging with walkthroughs: These walkthroughs for configuring external catalogs and IAMs allow you to interact with an Immuta console without having to have access to your own external catalog or IAM.
  • completing a support ticket activity: This activity prompts you to use Immuta’s documentation to reply to a customer’s questions regarding external catalogs.
  • engaging in a brief reflection: You will reflect on your confidence with and understanding of the content in this course. Depending on how you feel about your mastery of concepts, you can opt to complete enrichment activities, access additional resources, and read supplemental articles and documentation that we provide to you.
